In our Checkpoint we can offer you anonymous laboratory and rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, hepatitis, gonorrhoea and other STI. Before each test, we inform you about possible transmission routes, explain the test procedure and talk about your own risk management.

Below you find an overview about our trial offer.

HIV

Why an HIV test?

  • The HI-virus is comparatively hard transferable
  • It is not possible to tell by a look if someone is HIV-postive or not
  • As an long term consequence HIV damages the immune system
  • But due to the drugs HIV can be treated well

You can find our test times below in the "Opening hours" section. If you have any further questions, you can call us on 0391 535769-69

Syphilis

Why a Syphilis test?

  • A Syphilis infection and other STI increase the risk of contracting HIV.
  • If syphilis remains undetected and untreated, it can become life-threatening.
  • Treatment is extremely successful if diagnosed early.
  • You protect yourself and others, as an infection often goes undetected.

You can find our test times below in the "Opening hours" section. If you have any further questions, you can call us on 0391 535769-69

Chlamydia

Why a chlamydia test?

  • A chlamydia infection and other STIs increase the risk of contracting HIV.
  • Many infections go undetected because the infection is usually asymptomatic.
  • In women, an undetected infection can lead to abdominal infections and subsequent infertility.
  • In pregnant women, premature births and transmission to the newborn are possible.
  • In men, the prostate, vas deferens and epididymis can become inflamed, which can also lead to infertility.

Hepatitis A, B and C

Why test for hepatitis?

  • Hepatitis A causes an acute liver inflammation and does not become chronic; the infection leaves an immunity.
  • HAV is transmitted faecal-orally mainly through contaminated food and drinking water, but also through contact and smear infection.
  • If you have not been vaccinated or do not know your status, we recommend this test.
  • Hepatitis B becomes chronic in 5 to 10% of adults with an intact immune system, and more frequently in people with a weakened immune system.
  • HBV is transmitted through blood and body fluids involved in sex.
  • If you have not been vaccinated or do not know your status, we recommend this test.
  • Hepatitis C becomes chronic in the majority of cases if left untreated and can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer over years and decades.
  • HCV is transmitted through blood - especially when using drugs, but rarely during sex.
  • Currently, there is no vaccination against hepatitis C.
  • Even if you have been infected with HCV or have been successfully treated, it does not protect you from becoming infected again.
  • If you do not know your status, we recommend a test.
